Brenda Jean Foley (nee McEldowney) was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, but grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia; Geneva, Switzerland; Kingston, Ontario; and Montreal, Quebec. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a BA in English.
